Shimmer Life

This e-mag was born out of a dream to build a sense of belonging and acceptance amongst the women of Pittwater Uniting Church (PUC), a unity and community, a ‘one-ness’ across all the congregations. TAKE ME THERE

Esandleni Sothando

Esandleni sothando (in the hand of love — Matthew 19:14,15) is a Shimmer project, partnering with Bulawayo Baptist Church, to provide funds that will turn around the vicious cycle of poverty that exists for girls in the cities and rural areas of Zimbabwe. I WANT TO KNOW MORE

Refresh Mentoring

This multi-denominational program connects women from different churches in a mentoring relationship to bring fresh insight and influence in their lives. It opens the way for God's purposes to be revealed, and for His healing hand to touch the lives of women in the churches of our region. REFRESH ME MORE & 2009 APPLICATION

Flamingos

For single mums. The group is named for those beautiful birds that often stand on one leg ... just like single mums! The aim of Flamingos is to provide a mutual support network for single mums. To offer educational sessions, social events, pampering, information about resources in our area and introduce families to the love of God. MORE INFORMATION

Shimmer Retreat

Held annually in the first half of the year, this is a weekend away for the women of Pittwater Uniting Church, to build deeper and richer relationships with each other and God. The program is balanced with fun, input/teaching, sharing/discussion, activities and free time. In the Shimmer calendar it is seen as a significant event for personal and spiritual growth for those who attend. 2008 RETREAT

Shimmer Conference

The annual Shimmer Conference is part of developing the Body of Christ within our own church, and also working in unity with other churches in our area to bring God’s message of love and freedom to women on the whole Peninsula. We have committed ourselves to making this a day of finest quality, in all parts, and also providing a window of opportunity to building understanding and support for our sisters in need and suffering, both here in Australia and overseas. 2008 CONFERENCE

MOPS

MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers, a church-based program designed for mothers with babies and children under school age. MOPS provides a caring, accepting atmosphere for mothers and children (0-5 years), where mums have the opportunity to develop friendships, share concerns and explore areas of creativity through instruction, discussion and craft. Children are cared for in MOPPETS, a program that offers a loving, learning environment for children, from birth to school age.

Playgroups

PUC has two playgroups that meet weekly in the Basement. They were started by mums in the church many years ago, and have come under the Shimmer umbrella because they are primarily a ministry to women. Shimmer provides encouragement and support to the leaders.
