Introducing the leaders of this project
Norah Chiweshe
Norah, from Mutare, has been a Primary School teacher for nearly 20 years.
She has a passion for young and disadvantaged students, often taking them into her own home and providing food, items of personal hygiene and health care to girls. She also takes in students during school holidays to provide emotional support and a home with love, teaching basic skills for living.
She is married with four children, two boys and two girls.
Joyce Nxumalo
Joyce is a development specialist with a particular emphasis on Entrepreneurship Development.
Having worked for 10 years at helping individuals start and run profitable businesses, she is now leading the BRED (Baptist Rural and urban Economic Program) program, aiming at the economic development of whole communities. Part of this program is the orphan support project in Mawabeni.
Joyce’s husband is the Missions Director for Bulawayo Baptist Church. They have two children, Nonsi who is 12, and Daniel who is 7 years old.
Mercy Mashingaidze (Barrow)
Mercy is 28 years old with a background in administration. She has been working with an organization that specializes in training pastors and church leaders in parenting, marriage enrichment and HIV AIDS awareness. In addition, she has been leading a home group of 24 girls, (Luveve) teaching them the Word of God, life skills, and trying to meet basic needs with very limited resources.
Mercy is married to Martin Barrow, a member of Pittwater Uniting, who is committed to the people of Zimbabwe and is the Director of a program for homeless people and also an abandoned babies’ project in Bulawayo.
